Valentine's Day Fur Protest
Submitted by Dtoro on Fri, 02/13/2009 - 3:14pm.This is to see if there is any interest in doing another Alan Furs protest this Saturday. I realize a lot of people have Valentine's Day plans, but we had such a great turn out last weekend, we don't want to just disappear from sight. Alan Furs is feeling the pressure, especially after the great turn out last weekend. If you would like to have a V-day protest, please respond back to this email as quickly as possible.
We'd also like to remind people of our Animal Rights protest etiquette. It is the firm belief as a group that we do not, under any circumstances, display hostility, vulgar gestures, confrontation or bullying in retaliation, frustration or for any reason whatsoever. These actions only affirm people's perceptions of animal rights protesters and allow for police action. I know it is very difficult when an agitator tries to provoke you, people flip us off, and we witness people buying fur coats. But it is imperative that we rise above it by being polite, educate, wave to passersby, and maintain a cool demeanor. You need to be kind for the animals so that people will listen to us. If you cannot abide by these rules, please do not attend the protests.
Alan Furs Pre-Valentine Protest
Submitted by Elise on Tue, 02/03/2009 - 9:28am.Our group has been very successful with the recent protests of Alan Furs and we really need to keep up the momentum! This coming weekend will be the big Valentine's Day shopping weekend. Unfortunately, this could be a day of profit for Alan Furs too. That's where we come in! The weather is going to be 58 and sunny & we need to show how strong the opposition is to fur and that we aren't going to back down on such an important issue for the animals!
I am asking everyone who signed up to receive these emails to please attend our biggest protest thus far. We'd like to make this a Valentine's Day themed demo. We are going to make heart shaped signs with "Have a heart, don't buy fur" slogans, we will have the banner that PETA was kind enough to loan us indefinitely, and we are hoping to get such an overwhelming commitment from all of you that you will attend, so that we can issue some press releases and get some news coverage and really make our presence known in Richmond! Please help us make this a momentous occasion and really put Richmond Animal Rights on the map while doing something great to help animals!
Your firm RSVP is greatly appreciated!

Alan Furs Protest 2
Submitted by Elise on Tue, 01/13/2009 - 9:13am.Hello everyone,
We are going to hit Alan Furs again! The official date is the 24th but I am willing to protest this Saturday too. If anyone else would like to join me let me know! If you can do both days great - if not pick the one that works best for you and RSVP back to me . Thanks!
Because of some problems we had with the last protest I want to go over some stuff:
1. Someone left their soda cup by the tree when we left. Please clean up after yourself - we need to make a good impression in the community.
2. Please don't talk to the police unless it is to greet them or talk about our group in a polite way. They were really good to us on this last protest and we want to keep them on our side so please don't say rude things to them!!!!
3. Please be kind to people regardless of how they react to your protest - even if someone flips you off. If someone walks by in a fur coat please don't act rude towards them in any way. We are here to educate not harass!! Be a kind voice for the animals.
Alan Furs Protest
Submitted by Dtoro on Mon, 01/12/2009 - 10:46am.
On Saturday January 10th at noon, Richmond Animal Rights had it's first protest at Alan Furs on 1515 N. Parham Road in Henrico County. About 30 people showed up for this event and thanks to PETA organizers we had plenty of signs for everyone. The event was peaceful and orderly and the Alan Furs management was not happy to see us, so I would say the event was a success.
